The PRUAB team guided doctoral fellows through hands-on exercises to communicate their research to wider audiences
On July 24, the first session of the Scientific Communication Workshop for TOUCH doctoral fellows took place. The session was led by the PRUAB (Parc de Recerca UAB) communication team. This session marked the beginning of the fellows’ development of essential skills for sharing their research beyond academic circles, which is one of the key pillars of the TOUCH project’s public engagement strategy.
During this highly interactive session, the fellows explored the fundamentals of science communication. They learned how to identify their audience, craft informative and trustworthy messages, and choose the most suitable channels for dissemination. Practical exercises focused on transforming complex research into accessible stories, producing one-minute explanatory videos, and creating effective social media posts. These activities enhanced the participants’ confidence and provided them with concrete tools to support their future outreach activities.
By the end of the session, the TOUCH fellows had taken their first steps toward becoming proactive ambassadors of their research. Armed with storytelling techniques, digital tools, and a clear understanding of their role in communication and dissemination, the fellows are now better prepared to contribute to the project’s mission of bringing the impact of their scientific work closer to society.
