Dr. Carmen Bestué Salinas |

Dr. Bestué holds a degree in Law (Universitat de Barcelona), a Diploma in Comparative Law (Institute of Comparative Law in Paris, Université Paris II , Panthéon- Assas) and a PhD in Translation Theory (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). Her doctoral thesis, Las traducciones con efectos jurídicos: estudio de la traducción instrumental de las licencias de ordenador, received a special award and laid the research foundation for this project. She previously worked as an independent lawyer for several years and as a legal translator in countries like Spain, Mexico and the United States, where she lived for several years. She is currently professor of legal translation in the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation at UAB where she also coordinates a Graduate Diploma in Legal Translation. She has published several articles on legal translation. Her research interests focus on legal translation and ICT as well as in improving the situation of interpretation in public services. In 2013 she published the book Los contratos traducidos. La traducción de los contratos de licencia de uso de programas de ordenador (Tirant Lo Blanch. Col. Derecho & Tics, Valencia). |

Dr. Pilar Cid Leal |
|
Degree in Library Science (UB) and PhD in Information Science (UAB). Dr. Cid teaches the subject Documentation Applied to Translation at the UAB Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. She has participated in numerous research projects. She received an honourable mention for her thesis, whose title translates as ‘The Olympic Movement and Documentary Information: Analysis of Sources, Types and Means of Processing’. In addition, she has published many works that are relevant to this project. |

Dr. Adelina Gómez González-Jover
|
|
Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting. PhD (Cum Laude) in Translation and Interpreting, with a thesis on terminology. Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Alicante. Dr. Gómez is certified as a sworn interpreter by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her terminology-related publications that are relevant to this project include articles about terminology standardisation, the use of software tools to develop bilingual dictionaries, the teaching of terminology, specialised bilingual dictionaries, and corpus-aided bilingual terminology methods, as well as the expanding and updating of the second edition of the most widely used legal-translation reference book in Spain, El español jurídico, by E. Alcaraz Varó and B. Hughes.

Dr. Elina Lagoudaki
|
|
Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and PhD in Translation Technology (Imperial College London). Dr. Lagoudaki is currently a Research Associate in the Department of Humanities at Imperial College London. She also coordinates localisation projects at a London-based broadcasting company and leads translation technology implementations. In her publications, she has analysed the value of translation support tools. |

Dr. Roberto Mayoral Asensio
|
|
Professor in the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada. Dr. Mayoral is certified as a sworn interpreter of English by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has taught classes on legal translation in seminars and in bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate and PhD programmes at universities in Spain (UGR, ULPGC, UNIA, UVA, URV, UAB, UJI, UMA, US and UVigo), Argentina (UBA and UNC), etc. He directs theses and projects for the Advanced Studies Diploma in Legal Translation. As the author of the book Translating Official Documents (St. Jerome), Dr. Mayoral is one of the most widely cited authors in the field of legal translation. He has written more than a hundred articles alone and in collaboration with other scholars. He has been an invited speaker at more than 20 scientific conferences and has given more than 20 lectures on legal translation in Spain and abroad. He is a member of Lextra. |

Dr. Mariana Orozco Jutorán |
|
Dr. Orozco graduated in Translation and Interpretation from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) and won a special award for her PhD entitled Instrumentos de medida de la adquisición de la competencia traductora: construcción y validación. She teaches general translation, specialized translation and translation methodology at the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation at the UAB. He has directed doctoral theses that are directly related to this project, including those of Bestué (see above) and Sánchez- Gijón on using corpus linguistics as a resource for specialized translation. She has written numerous articles and book chapters as well as the monograph Metodología de la traducción directa del inglés al español. He was a member of Research Group Tradumática (1998-2008) and a member of Lextra. |

Dr. Ramon Piqué
|
|
PhD in Linguistics Applied to Translation (UAB). Dr. Piqué teaches the subject Computing Applied to Translation at the UAB Faculty of Translation and Interpreting and is a member of the Translation and New Technologies research group. He has participated in numerous research projects and has published important articles on technologies applied to translation. |

Dr. Fernando Prieto Ramos |
|
Fernando PRIETO RAMOS is Professor of Translation at the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation, University of Geneva, where he teaches in postgraduate courses. He co-directs the Department of Translation Studies and the Center for Legal and Institutional Translation (Transius). He holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting from University of Granada (with First National Prize for Translation Studies) and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Dublin City University, where he worked as a teacher and researcher at the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies for several years. He also studied Law and he is a sworn translator. He has worked as a staff translator at the World Trade Organization and as a freelance translator for other national and international organizations. He has authored several publications on legal translation, corporate translation and critical discourse analysis. Among the awards obtained throughout his career, it is worth mentioning the European Language Label for innovative projects in language teaching and learning (European Commission) and being selected for the Ramón y Cajal program of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology. |

Dr. Olga Torres-Hostench |
|
PhD in Translation Theory (UAB). Dr. Torres-Hostench co-directed Dr. Bestué’s thesis on the instrumental translation of software licenses. Since 2000, she has taught legal translation at the UAB Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. She is a member of Lextra and of the Translation and New Technologies research group. She has participated in numerous research projects and has published important works on translation and technologies. She has been responsible for managing projects and teams in various capacities: coordinator of the Master in Translation and New Technologies (UAB), coordinator of OIL (a programme aimed at helping graduates secure employment), localisation project manager during her career as a freelance software localiser, and president of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Catalonia. |
