Our research is particularly concentrated on themes of democratization, regime legitimacy and change, diffusion and transnational relations and networks, EU policies, social cohesion, and protest voting.

Our Approach

We combine different research techniques. Our methodology encompasses qualitative in-depth case studies, ethnographic fieldwork, survey methodology, including survey experiments, and sophisticated statistical analysis using large-N datasets. This extensive toolkit empowers us to conduct research across both democratic and non-democratic contexts, assessing how transnational processes of diffusion, Europeanization, and globalization impact these diverse political landscapes.

What is TransDeM?
