She will be conducting fieldwork with street-level bureaucrats and NGO workers in both cities to explore how policies are implemented in practice and how sub-state nationalism is understood and mobilised by these actors in their day-to-day work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-query is-layout-flow wp-block-query-is-layout-flow\"><ul class=\"wp-block-post-template is-layout-flow wp-block-post-template-is-layout-flow\"><li class=\"wp-block-post post-1082 post type-post status-publish format-standard hentry category-news\">\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-post-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/transdem\/2026\/02\/11\/social-solidarity-and-justice-principles-in-the-european-union\/\" target=\"_blank\" >Social solidarity and justice principles in the European Union<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-post-excerpt\"><p class=\"wp-block-post-excerpt__excerpt\">A recent study by Irina Ciornei (TransDeM-UAB) examines how justice principles shape public support for EU-level social policies\u2014an often overlooked mechanism in the literature. Using TESS (2016) data from 13 European countries, the study analyses support for a uniform EU welfare system and for EU schemes on unemployment, pensions, and health care.
