See what&#8217;s next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Short course on European project management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>14 July, 9-1 pm CEST (in person)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Invited lecturer: <strong>Jordi Mart\u00ednez<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of this course is to deliver a summary of the solutions and benefits to the TransMedia Catalonia research group members at Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB) working on media accessibility by effectively managing the entire lifecycle of their European projects, from the creation, the development to its closure, and the importance of having a good toolbox to manage it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main content of the course will be separated into four main parts; the first one on the Project organisation, roles and proposal writing, the second part on the planning phase considering the budget, the third part on the execution and control phase and the final part on the closing phase.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some time will be devoted to the many funding options available including Research and Innovation Actions (RIA), Innovation Actions (IA), Coordination and Support Actions (CSA), as well as Doctoral Networks (DNs) and the process on how to find the best clusters and partnerships to have the highest impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"131\" height=\"180\" class=\"wp-image-979\" style=\"width: 5000px\" src=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/transmedia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/282\/2023\/07\/foto-Jorge-Martinez-Blanch.jpg\" alt=\"Jordi Mart\u00ednez\"><\/td><td>Jordi Martinez is a physicist that has worked as the Financial Officer at the European Programme called Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area. He has more than 10 years of experience at the &#8220;Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas&#8221; (CSIC) as the Project Manager in the coordination team for the \u201cMediterranean Innovation and Research coordination Action&#8221; (MIRA) project, for the \u201cMediterranean Science, Policy, Research and Innovation Gateway&#8221; (MED-SPRING) project and for the \u201cEuro-Mediterranean Cooperation through ERANET joint activities and beyond&#8221; (ERANETMED) project. He has also been part of the justification team at CSIC for more than 50 projects belonging to several European Programmes. Before the European experience, he worked for more than 5 years at Hewlett-Packard managing several worldwide IT support projects.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\ufeff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Wild West of Accessibility Standardization \u2013 a view from the ITU<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3 July 2023, 9.30 CEST (online)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Invited keynote talk by <strong>Andy Quested<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being able to access any and all media, communication and data services on any device and through any platform is not simply a right that has to \u201cbe catered for\u201d, it must be at the centre of the design of every service and application provided by broadcaster, distributors and ICT platforms.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Device manufacturers, app designers, content creators of course, the users need to be sure of universal interoperability.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Standardization can both help and hinder the universal access to services, so how can the ITU be a force for good in the wild west of accessibility, universality and personalization?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"823\" height=\"658\" class=\"wp-image-804\" style=\"width: 5000px\" src=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/transmedia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/282\/2023\/03\/Quested.png\" alt=\"Andy Quested\" srcset=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/transmedia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/282\/2023\/03\/Quested.png 823w, https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/transmedia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/282\/2023\/03\/Quested-300x240.png 300w, https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/transmedia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/282\/2023\/03\/Quested-768x614.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 823px) 100vw, 823px\" \/><\/td><td><strong>Andy Quested<\/strong> joined the BBC in 1978 becoming a video-tape editor in 1985 working on comedy, children\u2019s and documentaries.&nbsp;As part of a new technology department, he worked on introducing non-linear editing, stereo, widescreen, the BBC\u2019s first HD programme Planet Earth I and the first UHD programme. Andy chaired the EBU Production Strategic Programme, has been a Rapporteur for the ITU-R on HDR, 3DTV and is currently Chair of ITU-R Working Party 6C which looks at production standards and is Co-Chair of the joint group on Accessibility.
