{"id":445,"date":"2024-02-01T10:49:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T08:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/wire\/?p=445"},"modified":"2024-09-16T19:14:45","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T17:14:45","slug":"academic-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/wire\/2024\/02\/01\/academic-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Save the date for our Academic Conference in Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 2024 academic conference of the EU-funded project <a href=\"https:\/\/webs.uab.cat\/wire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WIRE<\/a>, &#8220;<strong>War, Resistance, Gender and Violence&#8221;,<\/strong> will focus on new interpretations of Resistance through women&#8217;s experiences. The presentations will analyse the <strong>current state of transnational studies on war, resistance, gender and violence<\/strong>, with the aim of <strong>demonstrating the diversity of women&#8217;s resistance activities and the violence they suffered for their activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our four invited guest speakers are experts on women&#8217;s resistance from different European countries: <strong>Mercedes Yusta<\/strong> (Spain), <strong>Tasoula Vervenioti<\/strong> (Greece), <strong>Roberta Mira<\/strong> (Italy) and <strong>Barbara Klich-Kluczewska<\/strong> (Poland).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference will be open to the academic and non-academic public and will count on the participation of the participants\/students of the Memory Route from Spain, Greece, Italy and Poland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aims of the conference are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To analyse the importance of women&#8217;s resistance during the Second World War as a way of building critical consciousness in the present and in relation to the narratives inherited from the past.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To create an alternative narrative of resistance based on women&#8217;s experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To build a transnational community of future educators, researchers and opinion makers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference will take place on <strong>30 and 31 October 2024<\/strong> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mhcat.cat\/enmhc\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mhcat.cat\/enmhc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">History Museum of Catalonia<\/a>, located in the city of Barcelona, Spain.
