The event is part of the Eco\u2011RefugLit project, an initiative funded by the Ministry of Science and coordinated by professors Jorge Sacido and Noem\u00ed Pereira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of the project is to analyse, from both an academic and a social perspective, the reality of so\u2011called \u201ceco\u2011refugees\u201d and the challenges posed by current international asylum regulations in a context of ongoing environmental degradation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Marco Armiero<\/strong>&#8216;s speech is titled <strong>&#8220;The world in a migrant\u2019s cardboard suitcase&#8221;. <\/strong>With his words: &#8220;Environmental history and migration studies have rarely been brought together. Migration is usually treated as a social process, with the environment reduced to background. Yet migrants are embedded in ecological relations, and the places they move through are socioecological landscapes shaped by power.
