ATRAPA pre-doctoral researcher Iker Etxarte Sunsundegi participated in the International Association for People-Environment Studies (IAPS 2026) Conference, held at the University of Surrey (United Kingdom) from 29 June to 3 July 2026 under the theme “Sustainability as Wellbeing: Towards Healthy, Green, and Equitable Communities.”
During the conference, Iker presented a poster titled “Applying Moral Foundations to Understand Public Acceptability of Urban Spatial Transformations.”
Part of the ATRAPA project, the study explores how different moral values and framing strategies can influence public support for urban interventions such as pedestrianisation and cycling infrastructure. Using a Factorial Survey Experiment, it examines whether tailored moral framings affect the public acceptability of different types of urban spatial transformations.
Participation in IAPS 2026 provided an opportunity to share the study’s first results with an international interdisciplinary audience, engage with researchers from various fields,as well as to learn about new perspectives and lines of research on the relationship between people and the built environment.
