ATRAPA researchers participated in the World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) 2026, held in Toulouse, France, from 6 to 10 July 2026. The conference brought together transport researchers and practitioners from around the world to discuss current challenges and innovations in mobility, accessibility, transport policy, and urban development.
On 9 July 2026, Oriol Marquet presented the paper“Media Framing and Political Discourse of Barcelona’s Urban Transformations (2016-2024).” The research, developed within the ATRAPA project, examines how media narratives and political debates have shaped public perceptions of urban transformation initiatives in Barcelona, contributing to the project’s wider objective of understanding the social and political dynamics that influence the public acceptability of sustainable mobility policies and urban accessibility interventions.
Beyond presenting ATRAPA research, WCTRS 2026 provided an opportunity to engage with current debates and new research on transport policy, mobility behaviour, and public acceptability of urban interventions. Several presentations offered valuable insights into topics closely related to ATRAPA, including attitudes towards parking reform, approaches to measuring parking availability, the impacts of fare-free public transport, and the social dynamics shaping everyday travel behaviour. These discussions will help inform future analyses within the project.
