Monica Heller, (mheller@oise.utoronto.ca), is Professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and the Department of Anthropology of the University of Toronto (Canada). She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Her research interests focus on the role of language ideologies and practices in the construction of social difference and social inequality; on language, nationalism and postnationalism; and language and identity in the globalized new economy.
