About RN02 – Sociology of the Arts
The Research Network 02 – Sociology of the Arts (RN02) was established in 1999 during the ESA General Meeting in Amsterdam.
Its first conference was held in Exeter (2000), thanks to the foundational efforts of Tia DeNora, Anna Lisa Tota, Robert W. Witkin, Jan Marontate, and other key members.
RN02 has grown steadily over the years, reaching over 100 regular members by 2016.
It has fostered long-standing collaborations with the Arts Management Studies Research Stream (AMSRS) and RN7 – Sociology of Culture, among other ESA networks.
RN02 promotes the sociological understanding of the arts in all their forms and social functions.
