EUPOL – Jean Monnet Chair in European Policies
In times of crisis and uncertainty about the future of Europe, developing teaching and research on the EU as well as transferring knowledge to students, political elites, media and civil society on the central role played by the EU as a provider of public policies appears to be crucial. The main objective of this project is to continue the intense work developed by the Jean Monnet Chair in European Policies (EUPOL) between 2018 and 2021 (Jean Monnet Chair Call 2018) in order to address EU contemporary challenges through the demonstration of the added value of the European Union as a unique political organization. In terms of teaching, research and knowledge transfer contents, the ambition is to contribute to a better knowledge of the EU as a global provider of public policies both within and beyond EU borders.
The perspective we propose is threefold. First, emphasis on the historical transcendence of the European Union as both a political and socio-economic project. Second, enlightenment of the complex system of government and governance of the EU. Third, demonstration of the scope and value of European public action across the different policy areas with particular emphasis on regulatory decision-making and the deployment of the Green Deal priority and the Next Generation EU plan. This focus aims at giving both European and non-European citizens a better knowledge on the meaning and transcendence of a united Europe, and by doing so, at reinforcing the basis of European legitimacy within and beyond EU borders. Our targeted audience includes secondary and university students, junior researchers (EU and non-EU citizens) as well as civil society, media and political elites participating in the elaboration of EU public policies.
