I am Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biosciences of UAB, Coordinator of the Genome Integrity and Reproductive Biology Group (SGR Consolidated Groups) and member of the Genome Integrity and Instability Group (IBB-UAB). I did my PhD at the UAB on genome evolution with research stages in the NIH (USA), Italy and Venezuela. I spent five years of postdoctoral training at the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) studying the uniqueness of the African fauna and the University of Pavia (Italy) gaining experience in genome instability. Then, I moved back to UAB in 2009 as Lecturer.
My research activity has been focused on understanding the functional aspects and the degree of conservation of the higher-order organization of genomes, paying special attention to the germ line given its role in the transmission of genetic information through generations.
I have co-authored +65 JCR articles, including Nature, Cell, Cell Reports, Nat Comms, PNAS, Genome Biol, Trends in Genetics, and Mol Biol Evol, among others. I have contributed +170 communications presented at national and international meetings (32 invited talks). I am currently member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Genetics Society, Coordinator of the Evolutionary Biology Section of the Catalan Society for Biology and Deputy Coordinator of the Biology Degree at UAB. I am also the co-organizer of the national highly advanced postgraduate course ‘IX Curso Nacional de Genética’ (Madrid, Spain).
