The NMR Biomedical Applications Group exists since 1985, with a recognized track related to nuclear magnetic resonance and its applications to biology, biochemistry and medicine. The group background is both at in vitro/ex vivo level, with analyses of samples and extracts, and in vivo level, exploring the potential of magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy.
At present, the group is led by Dr. Ana Paula Candiota, who succeeded the former PI, Prof. Carles Arús. The group is now focused into noninvasive follow-up of cancer therapy in preclinical models, especially glioblastoma, through magnetic resonance approaches. The study of novel therapies, as well as tumor microenvironment modifications and their impact in the noninvasive follow-up are highlighted issues in the group research.
