Full professor in the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering, he is a chemist (biochemistry specialization) and obtained his PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1997. His research focuses on the treatment and valorisation of solid organic waste through processes such as:
- Composting.
- Anaerobic digestion.
- Solid-state fermentation (SSF) to obtain marketable products.
Throughout his career, he has held several academic management positions, including: Director of the Polytechnic University School of the Environment (1998–2005), Director of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the UAB (2010–2013)., Deputy Director of the School of Engineering at the UAB (2016–2019), Associate Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences (since 2021).
His work contributes to the development of sustainable technologies for efficient waste management and environmental protection.
