Neus Martínez-Abadías

Graduated in Biology (2002), Master in Experimental Biology (2006) and PhD (2007) at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). Postdoctoral researcher at University of Calgary, Pennsylvania University and Center for Genomic Regulation from 2008 to 2016 through several fellowships, including Marie Curie (EU-FP7). Associate professor at UB from 2015 to 2018. I am a Staff Researcher at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) since 2017. My research combines morphometrics, 3D imaging, genetics and machine learning to understand human morphological variation, incluging variation associated with disease. My long-term goal is to understand how the brain and the face are integrated in development to devise diagnostic tools for genetic and neurodevelopmental disorders. I am also committed to scientific communication, especially for fostering gender equality and girl’s interest for science.
