Dr Eva Codó is the Principal Investigator of GReLA. She is Associate Professor of English Linguistics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She holds an MA in Language Studies (Bilingualism) from Lancaster University (UK) and a PhD in English Language and Linguistics from UAB. Her field of specialisation is the sociolinguistics of multilingualism. She has conducted ethnographic research in various institutional spaces in Barcelona and its metropolitan area, where she has critically investigated communication practices and language policy. She has also carried out research on language and lifestyle mobility. She is currently Principal Investigator of the ENIFALPO R+D project (2020-2024, ref. PID2019-106710GB-I00) focusing on Catalan families’ English language investments. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, as well as the monograph Language and Immigration Control, published by De Gruyter (2008). Her most recent publication is the edited volume Global CLIL: Critical, Ethnographic and Language Policy Perspectives (2023), published by Routledge. She has been a visiting professor at the University of Toronto and at the University of Lausanne, and is now co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Multilingua (De Gruyter). From 2019-2023 she was co-Chair of the Association for the Study of Discourse and Society (EDiSo).
