Seminar on AI systems’ technical fairness measures from a feminist perspective at the York University

Our researcher Anna Capellà i Ricart presented a seminar on “AI systems’ technical fairness measures from a feminist perspective” at the Centre for Feminist Research (CFR) at the University of York (Toronto, Canada) on 24th June 2026.

Dr. Capellà explored questions such as 1) what can we understand and constitutes gender discrimination, 2) why decisions made through Artificial Intelligence can lead to gender discrimination, 3) the European Union legal framework governing technical fairness measures for AI systems, 4) the trade-offs that these measures imply and 5) the critiques of their implementation from a feminist perspective. The seminar was an opportunity to showcase Dr. Capellà research and to foster new possibilities for collaboration.
