Eulàlia Vernet was born in 1978 in Barcelona (Catalonia). She graduated in Classical Philology (2001) and Semitic Philology (2004) at the Universitat de Barcelona. She obtained two PhD Grants (2002-2006, Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología; 2006, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Deutschland) for doctoral studies in Germany (Freie Universität Berlin, Seminar für Semitistik).
She obtained in 2008 her PhD in Semitic Philology. From 2007 to 2014 she has been assistant professor at the Department of Semitic Philology of the Universitat de Barcelona, were she taught biblical Hebrew and Aramaic languages. From 2011 to 2014, she has been IP of the research project “Estudio etimológico de los verbos de tercera glotal *H en protosemítico” of the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación at the Universitat de Barcelona.
She is member of the Institut del Pròxim Orient Antic (UB). Since 2013 she is member of the editorial committee of the journal for Hebrew and Jewish studies Tamid (Institut d’Estudis Catalans). Since 2012 she collaborates with the Museu d’Història de Barcelona as specialist in the medieval Jewish quarter of the city.
Her research interests are semitic historical linguistics, the verbal system of semitic languages, the biblical Hebrew and Aramaic languages and the transmission of biblical texts during the intertestamental and rabbinic periods.
