We warmly welcome Irene Garcia for a research stay at the UAB and TransDeM
Irene Garcia is a PhD candidate at Queen Mary University of London and will be visiting our institution and research group from September to December 2026.
Her research explores how migration and settlement policy is enacted in the everyday within sub-state nationalist contexts, focusing on Barcelona and Glasgow. She will be conducting fieldwork with street-level bureaucrats and NGO workers in both cities to explore how policies are implemented in practice and how sub-state nationalism is understood and mobilised by these actors in their day-to-day work.
