UAB “Social brain” Chair (2006-2012)
The “the social brain” Chair was a center of reflection and education in the field of social neuroscience. The aim of the Chair was to generate, disseminate and bring closer neuroscientific knowledge that helps to understand social human behavior, especially what can be applied to those problems and conflicts most present today. Throughout its activity, the “the social brain” Chair organized international scientific meetings, public lectures, workshops for children and adults, as well as it developed educational activities together with the Barcelona Education Consortium aimed at children and young people with difficulties in school integration. A large part of its activities were disseminated in as audiovisual documents, articles, magazines and books..
Creatopia was configured as a space for analysis, meeting and exhibition of contemporary creativity. The idea was to open the current creative itineraries to observation and reflection, to search for relevant creative itineraries, without restrictions, in any field where contemporary creativity can be identified: in painting, digital art, multimedia, science, daily life … It was meant to analyze such activities, expose them, invite creators and confront them with their own trajectories and those of other creators. The challenge was to make these observations and reflections attractive both for the general public and for the creators themselves, as well as for anyone who had an interest in the reflection on contemporary creation. Creatopia tried to answer questions such as: What trajectories are there behind contemporary creative products and processes? What are the particular nature of the connections, drifts, intersections that occur today in the creative itineraries? How far does the dissatisfaction with the creative fields themselves go and in what way are the barriers between disciplines broken? What ideas, knowledge, disciplines are the most productive?
