As part of the Laboratory practices of the Bachellors Degree in Archeology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona I’m currently working in detecting cooking practices through archeological bones in Neolithic contexts from the Western Mediterranean. Bone samples where collected from Cova del Vidre, Bauma del Serrat del Pont and Cueva del Toro and analysed using two different spectroscopy techniques, Raman spectroscopy and FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy), which allow the observation of changes in the composition of bone due to their thermoalteration.
