Coromina, Òscar

Òscar Coromina is a Lecturer Professor at the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His research interests are related to introducing science and technology studies (STS) into the analisis of comminication and advertising domains.

Domènech, Miquel (coordinator)

Miquel Domènech Argemí is a professor of Social Psychology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His research interests are related to expanding the field of science and technology studies (STS), with a special focus on management between care and technology and on citizenship in technological issues.

Feliu, Joel

Joel Feliu is a Ph.D. in Social Psychology (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, ​​2001) and a Titular Professor of Social Psychology at the same University, ​​where he has taught since 1994. His doctoral thesis dealt with the use made of the notion of culture in social psychology and the difficulties it generates in the understanding of diversity. All lines of research are united by a fundamental concern for the role that knowledge and technologies play in our daily lives, from the first moment of the generation of concepts and the production of theoretical frameworks, until the moment of their application.

Gálvez Mozo, Anna

Ana Gálvez is a doctor in Psychology. She works as an associate professor of Work and Organizational Psychology.
She coordinates the research group TRAGSO (Work, Gender and Society). Her current research interests focus on two lines of work: the first focuses on analyzing the relationship established between gender, work, reconciliation of work, family and personal life and social sustainability; and the second, to explore how new labor models, characterized by precariousness and labor flexibility, affect and shape the lives of workers and their life projects, as well as the role of gender in such problems.

Íñiguez-Rueda, Lupicinio

PhD in Psychology from the U.A.B. and Professor of Social Psychology at the Department of Social Psychology (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). He is a member of the Barcelona Science and Technology Studies Group (STS-b) and the Qualitative Methodologies Research Group (GIMC).
He has been invited to different universities and international research centers, and he is the Editor of ‘Quaderns de Psicologia. An international Journal of Psychology’ and Co-Editor of the magazines ‘Athenea Digital. Magazine of social thought and research’

His current work is developed at the intersection of Psychology and Public Policies, especially those related to health and urban planning.

Moyà-Köhler, Joan

Joan Moyà-Köhler is a Ph.D. in Social Psychology by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a Lecturer Professor at the same University. His work combines Science and Technology Studies and Disability Studies. He researches forms of social commitment, the production of knowledge and innovation in the field of learning disabilities.

Tirado, Francisco

Francisco Tirado is Senior Lecturer at Department of Social Psichology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His main research interests are:  a) the analysis of biological emergency situations from a STS perspective, b) the relation between biorisk and biopolitics, and c) how biosecurity practices enact a new conceptualization of life.

Barat-Auleda, Oriol (PhD student and technical research assistant)

Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Psychology, focused in coproduction of knowledge and citizen participation in technoscientific controversies. Under a Science and Technology Studies (STS) perspective, I approach different topics such as the codesign and coproduction of technologies and knowledges related to health and environment, the study of the coproduction dynamics in open spaces like living labs and the changes that those spaces produce at the institutions where they are.

Hernández-Pérez, Oskar (PhD student)

Oskar Hernández is a PhD candidate in Science and Technology Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He holds a master’s degree in Knowledge and Information Society and previous degrees in Library and Information Science and Social Work. His research focuses on the current transformations of libraries as agents of citizen engagement and community building. He currently works on the analysis of situated practices that take place in certain socio-technical innovation infrastructures emerged in library contexts, such as living labs and open citizen-centered laboratories.

Aceros Gualdrón, Juan Carlos (Professor at Universidad Manuela Beltrán)

A psychologist from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana and PhD in Social Psychology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Juan Carlos Aceros has developed high competencies in qualitative and participatory research. His frame of reference is interdisciplinary. He has conducted studies on various topics, including contemporary forms of care, the impact of technologies on everyday life, public participation and social mobilization. His current focus is on the study of social responses to oppression, especially in migrant domestic workers. Juan Carlos has extensive teaching experience in face-to-face and distance modalities, as well as a special sensitivity for active and meaningful pedagogy.

Angulo Bahón, Cecilio (Professor at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya)

BSc/MSc in Mathematics from the University of Barcelona, Spain and PhD in Sciences from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at UPC. Former Head Director of the Research Centre on Intelligent Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDEAI-UPC). He has worked on theoretical aspects on kernel machines, reinforcement learning, computer vision and robotics and on applications on recommender systems, cognitive social robots and assistive technologies. He has authored books in machine learning and robots, and published more than 275 papers in international and national journals and conferences. He has led and participated in 40 R&D competitive projects, 15 of them funded by the European Commission.

Argudo Portal, Violeta (Postdoctoral Student)

My research is at the intersection between social anthropology and science and technology studies. I work in four interconnected thematic lines:

  1. Production of knowledge and biomedical technologies: bioscience infrastructures; human/non-human demarcations; biorepositories; regimes of value and political economy; anthropology of work and technoscientific logistics.
  2. Medical anthropology: anthropology of cancer; anthropology of the body; preparation of medicines; precision medicine; public policies; national health system.
  3. Medical images and technoscientific visualization.
  4. Ethnographic conditions in technoscientific contexts.
Hyysalo, Sampsa (Professor at Aalto University)

Sampsa Hyysalo is Professor of Co-Design at the Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture in Helsinki, Finland. His research focuses on designer-user relations in sociotechnical change. This includes engagement in participatory design, codesign, open and user innovation, open design, peer knowledge creation, user communities, citizen science and user knowledge in organizations, design ethnography, longitudinal ethnography, social shaping of technology, process studies of innovation, practice theory, and sustainability transitions.

Martín Badia, Júlia (Postdoctoral Student)

As a researcher in ethics applied to biomedicine and with practial experience in qualitative research methods in social sciences, I wish to consolidate my academic pathway, not only by generating knowledge, but also by contributing to sociopolitical decision-making in order to make a societal impact both in Spain and across Europe.

Michael, Mike (Professor at University of Exeter)

Mike Michael is a sociologist of science and technology. He joined SPA in 2017, having previously worked at Lancaster University, Goldsmiths, University of London, and the University of Sydney.  His research interests have included: the relation of everyday life to technoscience; biotechnological and biomedical innovation and culture; the public understanding of/engagement with science; and process methodology. His teaching has covered such areas as social theory, microsociology, environmental sociology, science and society, animals and society, sociologies of everyday life, and qualitative methodology.
