Here are the most common routes you are likely to take.

From Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN)

The UAB campus is approximately 35km from the airport.

  • By Taxi/Rideshare: A taxi takes about 35–50 minutes depending on traffic and costs roughly €50–€60. Ask for «UAB Campus, Building B.»
  • By Train: Take the R2 North train from Terminal 2 to Barcelona Sants or Passeig de Gràcia, then follow the «From Barcelona» instructions below using the FGC or Rodalies Renfe.
  • By Aerobús: Take the Aerobús to Plaça Catalunya (end of the line), then transfer to the FGC train (Line S2).

If you require taxi services, you can either hail a yellow and black taxi or book them through Cabify (iOS/Android)or FreeNow (iOS /Android).

1. Public transport from Barcelona City Center (FGC – Ferrocarrils)

This is the most frequent and reliable service.

  • Lines: S2 (Sabadell) or S6 (Universitat Autònoma).
  • Station: Get off at Universitat Autònoma.
  • Walking to Building B: From the station, it is a 5-7 minute walk. Follow signs for «Lletres i Psicologia» (Building B).
  • Travel Time: ~35 minutes from Plaça Catalunya.

2. The Express Bus (e3) from Barcelona (La Sagrera)

  • Route: The e3 bus runs directly from Barcelona-La Sagrera to the UAB.
  • Frequency: Every 20–30 minutes during peak hours.
  • Drop-off: Get off at the «Lletres i Psicologia» stop, which is directly in front of Building B.

3. Renfe Rodalies (National Rail)

 Coming from Nearby Towns

From Cerdanyola del Vallès: Use the e3 bus or the local bus lines that enter the campus directly.

From Sant Cugat: Take the FGC Line S2 towards Sabadell. It is only a 10-minute ride.

Staying on Campus? (Hotel Campus)

If you are staying at the Hotel Campus UAB, please note:

  • Arrival by Train: Get off at the Bellaterra station (FGC), not the «Universitat Autònoma» station. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from Bellaterra.
  • Getting to Building B: From the hotel, it is a 10-15 minute walk through the campus, or alternatively you can take the internal campus bus.

Tickets for public transport

Barcelona uses an integrated system called T-mobilitat. This allows you to use the Metro, FGC trains, Renfe Rodalies, and buses (including the e3 express bus) with a single card or mobile app.

Which Zone do I need?

  • Zone 1: If you are traveling only within Barcelona city center.
  • Zone 2: UAB is in Zone 2. If you are staying in Barcelona and commuting to the campus, or staying in Sabadell/Terrassa and coming to UAB, you need a 2-Zone ticket.

Recommended Ticket: T-casual (10 Journeys)

The T-casual is usually the best option for conference attendees. It provides 10 journeys at a discounted rate.

Exclusion: Note that the T-casual is not valid for the Airport T1/T2 metro stations (L9 Sud), though it is valid for the Airport Renfe train station.

Price: ~€25.50 for a 2-Zone ticket.

Individual use only: This ticket is unipersonal. It cannot be shared; each person in your party must have their own T-mobilitat card or app.

Transfers: You can make up to 3 transfers between different modes of transport (e.g., Metro to FGC) within 90 minutes, and it will only count as one journey.

Where to buy it?

  1. Station machines: You can buy a cardboard T-mobilitat card (cost is ticket price + €1 for the card itself) pre-loaded with a T-casual at any Metro, FGC, or Renfe machine. You can find more information here
  2. Mobile app: You can download the T-mobilitat app (Android / iOS) to buy and use tickets directly with your phone (requires NFC). This costs €1 for the «virtual wallet» setup. You can find more information here.
  3. Single tickets: If you only plan to make one or two trips, you can buy single 2-zone tickets at any station machine. These are more expensive per trip and do not allow transfers between different transport operators.
Important: Always validate your card or phone at the ticket gates both when entering and exiting FGC and Renfe stations. For buses, you only need to validate when boarding.

Driving & Parking

  • Highway: Take the AP-7 (exit «Universitat Autònoma») or the C-58 (exit 8).
  • Parking: Use the Parking de Lletres (P3) or Parking de Psicologia (P4). Both are open-air, free-of-charge lots located immediately adjacent to Building B.
