Nicolás Oiza van Lochem studied Biology at the Autonomous University of Madrid. After that, he completed a Master’s degree in Advanced Biotechnology at the International University of Andalusia with a focus on industrial biotechnology. The topic of his Master’s thesis was the use of CRISPR-Cas9 for the silencing of colour genes in strawberry.
Upon finishing the Master’s degree, he enrolled in an Erasmus+ placement at MetGen, Finland, where he joined the hydrolysis team after his stay. Later, he moved to Málaga with a Youth Guarantee fellowship. He joined GICOM as a PhD student in the ICTA programme at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
His research is focused on downstream processing of biosurfactants produced by SSF. His supervisors are Dr Antoni Sánchez and Dr Javier Moral.
