Ana León Mejía holds a PhD in Sociology (European Doctorate) from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2010). She is a lecturer at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja. From 2008 to 2010 she was a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Sociology and Philosophy, University of Exeter. In her PhD dissertation, Ana León Mejía analyses the theoretical and empirical foundations of gender feminism from an analytical and naturalistic approach. Specifically, she discusses the usual rejection of evolutionary approaches and biological explanations by Feminist theorists, and the dichotomy between gender and sex. Her research interests include the relation between biology and sociology, and the impact of recent findings in the behavioural sciences and neuroscience on the social sciences.
