On November 15th, researchers, professors and professionals participate in an International Seminar about the role of communication and communicators to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals included in the United Nations Agenda 2030. The seminar will take place at 10 a.m. in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
In the first part of the day will be Luis Miguel Sirumbal, expert economist of the Center for Rights and Development (CEDAL) of Peru; Olga Del Río, professor in the Department of Philology and Communication at the University of Girona, and Thomas Tufte, co-director of the Center for Communication and Glocal Change (Ørecomm) in Denmark and professor at the University of Leicester, UK. Guests will discuss topics such as participatory communication for social change or the human rights approach, and their relationship with ODS.
The second round table will feature the Communication Director of Creu Roja Catalunya, Òscar Velasco, and the Coordinator of the Barcelona City Council’s Intercultural Team, Cristina Velásquez, who will talk about the importance of communication for the work of organizations and institutions that work in these areas. Likewise, the professor of the UAB Department of Journalism, Ricardo Carniel Bugs, will present a study carried out at the Faculty of Communication Sciences on the level of knowledge and interest of journalism students, audiovisual communication, advertising and relationships ODS, communication for development, international cooperation, and other related issues.
The seminar will be inaugurated by the President of the Mediterranean Observatory of Communication (OMEC), Teresa Velázquez, and the Director of the Autonomous Solidarity Foundation (FAS), Jordi Prat.
