I International Congress: The discursive territories in Latin America – interculturality, communication and identity –

Prospective and Research Laboratory in Communication and Culture, with the presence of the professor, Teresa Velázquez, presented advances in her research during this international meeting.

Prensa CIESPAL.- The International Center for Advanced Studies in Communication for Latin America (CIESPAL), the Latin American Society for Intercultural Studies (SLEI) and the Universidad de la Frontera (UFRO) held the First International Conference: Discourse Territories in Latin America -intercultural, communication and identity- in the city of Quito, Ecuador, from September 12th to 14th, 2016 in CIESPAL dependencies.

This Congress offered a wide space of reflection and dialogue to the various scholars and researchers who, from Latin America and other continents, address the field of communicative practices, discourse and textual productions that have been generated and generated through the extensive territory of Latin America and Indo America, defining their problems and their identity.

The different points of view and processes involved in the communicative making of this continent, and its registration through its multiple speeches, allows us to approach the complex socio-cultural and historical events of the different peoples that make up this territory, as well as their spaces of cultural contact that have become a new area to recognize regarding their permeable and dynamic borders.

In addition to this academic challenge, this disciplinary and interdisciplinary meeting called the scientific community to join the Latin American Society of Intercultural Studies (SLEI), which emerges in 2012 with a directory in six countries, seeking to unite the different perspectives and lines of study in the field of cultural contact currently taking place in Latin America.
