Giacomo Capuzzo

I am a Ph.D. student at the Department of Prehistory at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). I undertook my Undergraduate degree and Master in Italy, at the University of Padova, where I focused on the North Italian Protohistory. Currently, I am working on the project supervised by the Prof. Juan Antonio Barcelóand founden by the Generalitat de Catalunya “Bronze Age-Iron Age transition in Prehistoric Europe: a Space-Time Analysis of radiometric dates and their archaeological contexts”, whose results are the developing of the EUBAR database. The main topic of my research is the analysis of radiocarbon dated archaeological contexts located in Central and Western Europe between 1800 and 750 BC, period in which I am specialized. In particular, I am interested in using radiocarbon dates in order to reconstruct the behavior of the past societies, providing information about phenomena like the settlement patterns, the socio-cultural changes, the diffusion processes and the adoption of innovation on a macro-scale during the 2nd and the beginning of the 1st millennium BC. In such a framework I have been employing different techniques like geostatistical tools, Gis, Bayesian analysis (OxCal) and summed probability functions of 14C dates. As an archaeologist, I have participated in excavations in Italy, Spain and Israel. I have also spent research periods as a visiting student in foreign centers, like the D-REAMS Radiocarbon Laboratory, Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot (Israel) and the Department of Prehistory, Natuhistorisches Museum, Vienna (Austria).
