The Transportation Research Symposium is being held from 25 to 28 May 2025 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. At this conference, the paper “Queer Mobilities: Emotional and Behavioural Patterns in Active Travel” is presented.
The analysis of this study focuses on the emotions of queer people during their travels and how misogyny, lesbophobia, transphobia and racism permeate the experience of walking. In addition to making queer fear visible, the study emphasizes the resistance and care strategies that LGBTIQ+ people adopt while navigating the city. However, this research provides new perspectives on the importance of gender, sexuality and emotions in mobility.
