Sea Peoples Lab is a transdisciplinary research group on the socioecological relationships between humans and the ocean. We are interested in the implications of sociocultural justice to advance knowledge and instigate change toward sustainable, just, equitable, and inclusive coastal development for nature and humans.
We develop research at the crossroads of the Global North and the Global South in different interconnected sites by the socio-ecological crisis. The main aim is to provide the tools to guarantee a just and equitable transition towards sustainability for humans and nature, considering the diverse moral and ethical angles involved in the inherent complexity of present-day socio-ecological problems, which should inform political decision-making under the human rights and environmental rights approach.
Sea Peoples Lab is part of the Fundamental and Oriented Anthropology Research Group (GRAFO) of the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
