We are looking for a doctoral candidate to join our team at the Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals (ICTA-UAB) to work on research related to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Environmental Science and Technology doctoral programme at UAB and supervised by an interdisciplinary team including Vanessa MonteiroGara Villalba and Ariane Arias. We encourage candidates to apply for the specific project titled:

“Data-driven approaches for tracking anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions changes”

The Framework: PHYNEST Programme. This position is part of PHYNEST, a Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND programme coordinated by the UAB. It is designed to nurture the next generation of scientific leaders committed to finding sustainable energy solutions. PHYNEST offers 25 PhD positions in total across five major thematic areas, including climate change and carbon monitoring.

Busquem un/a candidat/a de doctorat per unir-se al nostre equip a l’Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals (ICTA-UAB) i treballar en recerca relacionada amb les emissions antropogèniques de gasos d’efecte hivernacle. La persona seleccionada s’inscriurà al programa de doctorat en Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals de la UAB i serà supervisada per un equip interdisciplinari format per Vanessa MonteiroGara Villalba i Ariane Arias. PHYNEST ofereix un total de 25 places de doctorat en cinc grans àrees temàtiques, incloent-hi el canvi climàtic i el monitoratge del carboni.

EGU 2026: the call for abstracts is open!

Leigh Fleming (Earth Sciences New Zealand) and Vanessa Monteiro (ICTA-UAB), are pleased to invite abstract submissions for our two sessions:

🌆 GI2.3 Urban greenhouse gases monitoring networks ➡️ enjoy this opportunity to share and discuss the newest findings and challenges faced across different cities: from deployment, data analysis and modelling.

🧩 EOS5.2 Visualizing atmospheric gases: bridging atmospheric science and school education ➡️ let’s bring together creative approaches to communicating atmospheric science in educational contexts, showcasing how these methods have been used to engage young audiences and discussing the challenges that arise in the process. Let’s increase inspiration by sharing examples of how educators and scientists are using atmospheric science to connect with children.
