“Days of War” by Simone Da Dalt

We are happy to invite you to our upcoming talk (this time in Spanish!), curated by Simone Da Dalt — “Days of War.” Da Dalt proposes an interdisciplinary reflection on the representation of the First World War, 110 after Italy entered the conflict. “Days of War” explores literary, cinematographic, photographic and artistic representations of the Great War. In particular, Simone Da Dalt will offer a comparative analysis of Luigi Marzocchi’s photographs and Heinrich Vogeler’s engravings, underscoring the artistic and representational value of two modes of rendition of conflict. Both offer a documentary and emotional glimpse of war. In this comparison, Da Dalt aims to underscore the affinities and divergencies between two artistic media that contributed to the construction of conflict imagery.

Simone Da Dalt graduated with honours in American Postcolonial Languages and Literatures from Università Ca’Foscari (Venice). Bringing together his passion for literature and photography, Da Dalt’s research centres on intermediality, exploring how visual arts and literary texts intersect and shape one another.
