Dr. Luis Rodríguez Santiago received his PhD in Chemistry in 1998 from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) under the supervision of Dra. M. Sodupe and V. Branchadell on the theoretical study of coordination of NO2 to metals in gas phase and in Cu-ZSM5 zeolite. After a postdoctoral stay at the “Laboratoire d’analyse et environnement“ of the “Université d’Evry-Val-d’Essonne” in France he joined the UAB as a Ramon y Cajal researcher. His main research interest is in the interaction of different transition metal complexes of biological interest. Particularly, his current research is focused on several aspects related to the Alzheimer disease, especially the interaction between metal cations and the amyloid-bpeptide and its role in the production of reactive oxygen species and in aggregation processes of the peptide.
