Dr Antoni Sánchez is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
He is a researcher in the Composting Research Group (GICOM). He has taken part in several projects funded through regional, national and European calls in the field of biotechnology and, in particular, in environmental technologies based on biological processes. In addition, he has been involved in various contracts and technology transfer agreements with companies and public administrations. His research focuses on environmental engineering and, more specifically, on the design and use of biological systems for the treatment of organic waste (composting and anaerobic digestion), and more recently on SSF (solid-state fermentation to obtain bioproducts from waste) and on nanotechnology for environmental remediation. Due to this activity, he has published numerous works that can be consulted on Google Scholar.
He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the journals Waste Management Bulletin, Frontiers in Chemical Engineering (Environmental Section) and Processes (Environmental Section), and a member of the editorial board of Bioresource Technology, Waste Management and Research, Bioengineered, Sustainability, and Resources, Environment and Sustainability.
