Teachers and students of UAB take part in Morocco’s workshop about Euro-Mediterranean project “EU-MeS”

Teachers and students of the Master in international relations, security and development (MURISD) and the Master in Intermediterranean mediation: economic investment and intercultural integration (MIM) of the UAB have recently been in the Moroccan city of Meknes to participate in the closing ceremony of the  project “The Euro-Mediterranean Region: Sustainability between people and politics (EU-MeS)”.

 

Teachers and students of the Master in international relations, security and development (MURISD) and the Master in Intermediterranean mediation: economic investment and intercultural integration (MIM) of the UAB have recently been in the Moroccan city of Meknes to participate in the closing ceremony of the 2012/13 course of the project “The Euro-Mediterranean Region: Sustainability between people and politics (EU-MeS)”.

Activities within the conclusion of the EU-MeS in this course, the workshop “Gender, migraciomn and interculturalidades in the Western Mediterranean” brought together researchers and students in different countries at the Faculty of letters and sciences human of the Université Moulay Ismaïl (UMI). On behalf of the UAB, the professors Rafael Grasa, of the Department of public law and Sciences Historicojuridicas, Teresa Velázquez and Ricardo Carniel Bugs, of the Department of journalism and communication sciences, were among the speakers who presented topics for reflection about the unity of the Euro-Mediterranean region and projects of cooperation and integration. The students also had the opportunity to present their progress in research, enriching exchange of experiences. Likewise, participants conducted activities guided in relevant places to understand the history of the Mediterranean, such as the Holy City of Moulay Idriss, the old Jewish quarter of Meknes or the Roman Volubilis runes.

The EU-MeS is developed by a consortium of five institutions: the Universitá Ca’Foscari (Italy), UAB, Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier 3, and Paris 8 (France) and the School of Oriental and African Studies, SOAS (United Kingdom). The project has collaborating universities in Meknes, Rabat and El Oued – Algeria, among others, and was funded by the European Commission through the Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus Curriculum Development). Each organizing universities offer online training modules to students of other institutions psgrado, which are complementary to its masters of source content and choose an international certificate.
