The Mediterranean Communication Observatory (ECMO) have taken part of Mediterranean Forum of the Anna Lindh Foundation held in Marseilles, on the occasion of the appointment of the European city of culture for the year 2013.
The Mediterranean communication Observatory (ECMO), led by Dr. Teresa Velázquez García-Talavera, had the opportunity to participate in Forum Mediterranean of the Fundación Anna Lindh 2013 held in Marseilles, on the occasion of the appointment of the European city of culture for the year 2013 French city from 4 to 7 April.
The Anna Lindh Foundation, an organization non-profit based in Alexandria (Egypt) was established in 2005 with the purpose of promoting the rapprochement between the different cultures of the Mediterranean region. Last March, the ECMO had the opportunity to participate in the preparatory meeting of the Forum held in Barcelona and organized by the IEMED. Held every 3 years, in the Forum of this year and the theme citizens for the Mediterranean, have concentrated more than 150 organizations and institutions of the Mediterranean area which during 4 intense days have discussed the State of the Mediterranean region, with special emphasis on 10 major thematic areas: culture and creativity, urban spaces and citizenship, media and perceptionswomen, development, diversity, democracy and civil society.
Falling within the scope of media and perceptions, the ECMO was able to share with other participants of the meeting, the research projects carried out on media and the construction of the Euro-Mediterranean area. Among the projects presented, is the I D I project funded by the Spanish Ministry of economy and competitiveness (MINECO), entitled “the social construction of space Inter-mediterraneo and their correlations in the media agenda.
