Carmina Crusafon Baqués

Carmina Crusafon Baqués is Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her academic background includes a Doctorate in Information Sciences (UAB), a DEA in European Studies (Paris 8), a Postgraduate degree in International Relations (UB), and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (UAB).

Her research focuses on the structure of the global and supranational digital media ecosystem, media policies in the European Union and Latin America, media business models, and local press.

She has served as a visiting researcher at the University of Leeds (United Kingdom), the University of California–Los Angeles (UCLA) (USA), SMIT-IMEC at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), and the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York (CUNY) (USA).

Dr Crusafon Baqués has delivered lectures and taught courses at both Spanish and international universities. She brings professional experience in the audiovisual sector and has expertise in strategic and corporate communication consulting. Additionally, she served as a technology and digital society columnist for “El Periódico de Catalunya” from 2016 to 2021 and has contributed to various media outlets, disseminating information on the digitalization of our society.

As a representative of the Association of Media and Information (AMIC), Carmina Crusafon is a member of the Board of Trustees of Fundació.cat.
