Carmina Crusafon Baqués

Carmina Crusafon Baqués is an Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Communication Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She holds a PhD in Information Sciences from UAB, a DEA in European Studies from University of Paris 8, a postgraduate degree in International Relations from the University of Barcelona, and a BA in Journalism from UAB.

Her research focuses on the digital media ecosystem, communication policies, journalism business models, and local media. She has been a visiting researcher at the University of Leeds, the University of California–Los Angeles (UCLA), the SMIT-IMEC research centre at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York (CUNY). Since May 2026, she has served as Deputy Director of the Institut de Comunicació at UAB.

She also has professional experience in the audiovisual sector (Media Park S.A.) and in strategic and corporate communication consultancy. She is currently Secretary of the Fundació Accent Obert and Secretary of the Board of AMIC (Associació de Mitjans d’Informació i Comunicació).
