Santiago Giraldo Luque

Santiago Giraldo Luque is Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Coordinator of the Journalism Degree at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He holds a degree in Political Science from the National University of Colombia, a Master’s in Communication and Education, and a Ph.D. in Communication and Journalism from the UAB. He’s been part of over 20 international and national research and cooperation projects (Spain and Colombia). With more than 60 academic publications (books, research articles, and book chapters), he’s been guest professor at universities in Colombia, Egypt, and Vietnam. He’s the general coordinator of Berracas Project (https://www.proyectoberracas.com/) and a member of the Research Center on Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (CREIS) at UAB. His main research areas include the critical study of social media and the internet, political participation and mobilization, and the role of women victims of the Colombian conflict in peace-building. His latest publications are the books “Predictive Technology in Social Media” (Taylor & Francis Group, 2022) and “A theory on the role of women victims-survivors in peace for Colombia” (CUN, 2022).
