Jameela Siddiqi

Jameela Siddiqi was born in Mombasa, Kenya and grew up in Kampala and Jinja, Uganda from where she came to Britain in 1972 following Idi Amin’s Asian Expulsion. She read History at the London School of Economics and worked as a television producer and journalist for many years before branching out into Indian classical dance and music on which she has published extensively and is now a lecturer in the history and theory of Indian music. She is a regular contributor and reviewer for Songlines, a leading journal of world music.  She is the author of two novels.
