These lectures are meant to provide an introduction to the theory of quantum channels, their basic properties and their applications in quantum information theory. Specifically after  reviewing some  basic facts on quantum systems, we will derive the fundamental structure of quantum channels introducing the notion of Stinespring and Kraus representation, and the Choi-Jamiolkowski isomorphism. A formal derivation of master equation evolution will also be presented. The notion of quantum capacities will then be introduced and analyzed with examples.
