The Quantum Information Group (GIQ) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) looks for either a PhD student or a Postdoc to work in collaboration with Philipp Strasberg on theoretical problems at the intersection of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics and open quantum systems theory. The main requirements are motivation, curiosity and creativity, but no particular background knowledge is needed. You should enjoy working with abstract mathematical tools and you should not be afraid of numerical computations. The preferred starting date for PhDs is September 2021 or as soon as possible after that (the starting date for Postdocs would be more flexible). Since a diverse environment is vital for creativity in science, applicants belonging to minority groups in physics are treated preferentially.
