Multipartite entanglement is an essential resource for quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum networks. The utility of a quantum state for these applications is often directly related to the degree or type of entanglement present in the state. Therefore, efficiently quantifying and characterizing multipartite entanglement is of paramount importance. Unfortunately, many standard experimental methods of determining quantum entanglement are resource intensive and/or need to be tailored to a given input state. In this talk, we will explore the use of the so-called controlled-SWAP test for measuring quantum entanglement. We show how one can construct well-defined pure state entanglement monotones from the output probabilities of this efficient, general quantum circuit and summarize some of the most interesting properties of these quantities. The paper associated with this talk can be accessed here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2104.06923
