In the talk the influence of type of quantum particles (bosons, fermions,
distinguishable particles) on the free energy and extractable work in
Szilard engines will be discussed. We show that in fact the type of
particles has no direct influence on the extractable work, which is given
solely by the number and probability distribution of all possible
measurement outcomes. These results are in direct contradiction with some
recently published work suggesting that quantum particles might have a
significantly different behaviour in this type of thought experiments.
