Luyan Teng has successfully defended her doctoral thesis in front of a prestigious international viva examining board. Her thesis, entitled “English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning and capital in rural China: A case study of a group of secondary students” was supervised by Dr. Melinda Dooly and Dr. Emilee Moore. Examining Board members were David Block, Universitat de Lleida (president), Xavier Fontich, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (secretary), John O’Regan, UCL Institute of Education, University College London (spokesperson). Luyan Teng carried out her studies at UAB as a recipient of a predoctoral grant from the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
