Everyone who attended the intensive 3-day sessions entitled ‘Why Conversation Analysis (CA) in the era of big data?’ all agree that the event was exciting and insightful from the beginning to the end. The 3 days included talks by Ufuk Balaman, Nigel Musk, Olcay Sert and Steven L. Thorne along with a CA workshop, data session and roundtable. The event, hosted and funded by the KONECT project, brought together leading experts in innovative research methods applied to (language) education contexts to discuss and debate the role of micro-analysis of learning processes in a time when data, technology and ‘high impact’ stakes are pushing researchers to give results based on high volume numbers. Some of the outcomes of the event will be published soon by members of the KONECT research team. The programme of the event can be viewed here: https://tefluab.wixsite.com/greipevents/list-seminars

GREIP’s insight
