Our PhD student, Changchun Li, who is co-supervised by Dr. Melinda Dooly and Dr. Claudia Vallejo, recently presented a paper at the 3rd Beijing Overseas Chinese Education Forum an International Chinese Education Seminar, which was held at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing from the 15th until the 17th of July 2024.

His presentation, titled Family: A Critical Domain of Chinese Heritage Language Education, emphasized a necessary shift in Chinese heritage language research within China, from a primary focus on schools to recognizing the family as a crucial element. The conference aimed to address the challenges of heritage language maintenance and cultural identity among new generations of Overseas Chinese in the context of globalization, as well as to explore ways to enhance Chinese international education.
