GREIP member Joan Ploettner is currently on a 2-month research stay with the Centre for Research of Activity and Development and Learning (CRADLE) at the University of Helsinki, directed by Dr. Yrjö Engeström. During her stay at CRADLE she has participated in weekly research seminars regarding the application of Activity theory in a variety of contexts, from social movements in Spain to innovative organizational strategies in Italy and the UK. She also continues to participate in a weekly Foundations of Activity Theory doctoral student reading group. She is attending data sessions at the Centre for Excellence in Intersubjectivity in Interaction, also at the University of Helsinki, where she led a data session on April 25. Joan´s research focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration for English Mediated Instruction within the context of higher education from the perspective of Activity theory.
