The UAB partner LOCALL (2019-1-DE03-KA201-060024) Multiplier Event was held online yesterday, with 47 people in attendance. Guest speaker Jessica Bradley, from the University of Sheffield first provided a theoretical overview of engaging learners with creative practices to more critically engage with the linguistic landscapes of their neighbourhoods, followed by a very example-oriented presentation by Mónica López that highlighted her own experience of LL pedagogical implementation (during and post-lockdown) and how this approach can be linked to new Catalan government educational ordinances. Melinda Dooly then presented an overview of the LOCALL project and outcomes and the evening ended with a hands-on workshop, led by Dr. Bradley, on how to analyze (and teach students to analyze) images in linguistic landscapes.

GREIP’s insight
Alguns comentaris per part dels participants: “Very nice project. Congrats! During the lockdown, analysing the linguistic landscape might have been quite difficult. But, everything happens for a reason! Now, I’m sure they focus more on what they are surrounded by at home!” “Molt xulo tot!” “Molt interessant la proposta de vincular la descoberta de paisatges lingüístics amb la creació artística i la implicació d’artistes locals.” “Very interesting! Combining linguistic landscape and an app! 🙂 Great!” “It’s been really interesting. It inspired me for activities next school year. Thanks a lot!”
