Barcelona Supercomputing Center (PATC Centre of PRACE)Parallel Programming Workshop

Cecilia Jaramillo, Joe Carrión, Zhengchun Liu and Hai Nguyen (HPC4EAS Research Fellows) will assist (14-18 October, 2013) to the BSC PATC Course on Parallel Programming. The objectives of this course is: setting up the basic foundations related with task decomposition and parallelization inhibitors (using a tool to analyze potential parallelism and dependences), and understanding the fundamental concepts supporting shared-memory and message-passing programming models. The course is taught using formal lectures and practical/programming sessions on BSC HPC environment using two programming models: OpenMP for the shared-memory architectures and MPI for the distributed-memory counterparts. Moreover, Paraver will be used as the tool to understand the behavior and performance of parallelized codes.
